SOLD // Vespa 150 1965 Gold

The Vespa scooter started life as a practical means of personal transport designed to get a nation moving after the ravages of the Second World War. It quickly progressed to symbolize the Italian way of life, and it blends innovative mechanical design with an unmistakable Italian style. Now regarded as a design icon, it has been copied by many manufacturers, but never bettered. iconic two-stroke Vespa helped define Italian transportation in the post WWII era.

This particular bike was acquired from my neighbor earlier this year and slotted into my country-based collection to represent Italy.

Many years ago the bike, originally from California, was mechanically restored and then sat in an enclosed garage for a LONG time. For years I told my neighbor I would be interested in buying it and he finally took me up on the offer.

As you see, it is not a beauty but it does have a vintage charm to it and has cleaned up pretty well - personally, I love the gold color and its patina. I’ve put new tubes in the very old tires, installed a brand new carburetor and a few other miscellaneous parts. It still needs more work but the scooter starts, idles, revs, shifts through the gears and the brakes work. I’ll I’ve done is ride it around the block and enjoyed that pre-mix two stroke smell.
